3 lbs. lean beef
1 tablespoon flour
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 pint boiling water
2 onions, chopped
2 carrots, sliced thick
2 cloves
Mix the flour with pepper and allspice and dredge meat with the mixture. Melt the oil in a heavy pan. Brown meat on all sides, add the boiling water, onions and cloves, cover and allow to simmer for about 3 hours or until meat is tender. Makes 6 servings.
