Out and About the Blogroll and Beyond
Macker is blogging again at a new Pray Naked Experience. I had him on my blogroll for a long time, then he quit posting and seemed to drop off the face of the earth. I’m happy to see that he’s writing again.
Always lots of good stuff at The Thinklings. Probably why it’s become one of my favorite blogs, and a daily must-read. Good discussion here about suicide. And another challenging post about how the ethics of Jesus don’t really mean anything without the theology of Jesus.
I’m not single any more, but The Internet Monk has a good essay up about how evangelicals may be over-emphasizing the importance of marriage. Good discussion in the comments. To marry or not? To court or to date? It’s all so complicated now. And I thought it was frustrating letting the guys take the lead … which for me meant a lot of bowling dates and Saturday nights with the girls.
How often do you say no to yourself? Sure, we’re told to deny ourselves, take up our crosses and follow Jesus. But do we really do that in terms of living simpler lives, doing without those little luxuries? This hit home with MamaT and it hit me too. (How quickly I decided that seat warmers in the car are indispensable!!)
Amy Welborn had this today. I’ve never heard of the New York Press, and now I wish I never had. I don’t care if you’re Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox or secular humanist — this sort of “humor” is disgusting. Shame on them!
Josh Claybourn weighs in on the “time of fellowship” or “passing of the peace” during worship. I put in my $0.02 (readers who are members of my church are allowed to roll their eyes here. “There she goes again …”)
