Just to keep my loyal readers up to date on the state of my health …
I started back to work this week, not getting slammed too hard with a pile of stuff, which I greatly appreciate. Getting back into the work mindset is harder than I thought. Oh, it would be so easy to stay home all day and be a kept woman. Are you listening, my dear husband?
Dialysis continues to go well and I’m feeling stronger and more energetic. Appetite is coming back, too.
Yesterday I was back at the hospital for a little outpatient surgery. They put an AV fistula in my left arm for a more permanent dialysis access. An AV fistula is where they connect one of my veins to an artery, pumping a lot of blood through it. This strengthens and enlarges the vein so that it can tolerate being poked three times a week for the hemo treatments. They call it the “Cadillac” of dialysis access types. It won’t be ready to use for six weeks or so, but oh, it will be so great when they can pull these confounded tubes out of my chest and I don’t have to tape up before every bath or shower.
My lab results are looking pretty good, so I guess I’m doing OK on the new diet. In fact, the doctor said I could even add a smidge more sodium. But I’m trying to be judicious about that — I could easily go overboard on salty things!!
Glad to hear you are holding your own. Praying for you!
