Yesterday Ken and I played our first round of golf since October 2012. We started out at one of our favorite little courses in Crystal River, Florida --- the Lagoons course at the Plantation Inn. It's an executive nine-hole, but some of them are nasty, tricksy things, with lots of water and undulating greens.
Both of us were pretty happy with our rounds (no, I'm not sharing scores) considering how long it's been since we played. My shot of the day definitely was a clean little 8 iron over the water to the green on number 4. I've lost so many balls in that pond over the years, I feel as if I scored a vicotry over the vengeful golf gods.
My putting was better than usual. Even Ken commented that my approaches were good, leaving me within a couple of feet for a relatively easy two-putt on most of the holes.
There will be more golf to come this week, at some harder courses. But this was an encouraging start.
