I haven’t written anything about my crochet projects since April 2014. Rereading that post, I realize that I have tackled more than a few of the items I had wanted to try:
- A couple of afghans — as an apartment-warming present for Amy, and as a wedding present for our great-niece.
- One baby dress, which I gave to our neighbors at the time who had a newborn girl; they’ve long since moved away.
- Several prayer shawls for hurting and grieving friends.
- Two amigurumi Hobbes dolls (the tiger from the comic strip “Calvin and Hobbes”) I’m keeping one of them and the other was donated to our church school auction; apparently one little boy in particular had his heart set on Hobbes. I’m so glad that his was the winning bid, and I hope Hobbes is having lots of adventures with his new best friend.

Back in January I was working on some cold-weather things: a thick hooded cowl and a cozy colorful scarf. No plans for them yet; maybe they are backup Christmas gifts. I spent most of the spring working on a wrap/shawl for a certain bride I know. That was a challenge in many ways: a tricky pattern, worked in an unfamiliar material — fingering weight cotton/linen thread. My current project is another prayer shawl worked in a triangle pattern that I love.

Not sure what I’ll make after the prayer shawl is finished. I’ve got this super-cute pattern for an amigurumi Nativity set, but I’m not sure I have the patience for all of the tiny pieces and sewing them together. But there will be something. Fall and winter just put me in the mood to work with my hook and yarn.
